Your app's Aureus subdomain (*.aureus.cx)

Every app registered in the Aureus dashboard gets a free, TLS-secured subdomain on aureus.cx — ready to use the moment you deploy.

Every app ships with a subdomain

When you register an application in your Aureus dashboard, we automatically provision a subdomain for it under *.aureus.cx. You don't need to own a domain, configure DNS, or request a certificate — it's all handled for you before your first deploy.

Your subdomain looks like this:

your-slug.aureus.cx

The slug

The subdomain is driven by your app's slug — a short, URL-safe identifier. When you create an app, Aureus auto-generates a memorable slug (think bright-harbor-42) so you can start working immediately. You can rename it at any time from the app's edit page.

Slug rules

  • 3–48 characters, lowercase.
  • Letters, numbers, and hyphens only — no spaces or special characters.
  • Must be unique across all Aureus apps (we check in real-time as you type).

Once you save a new slug, the old subdomain stops resolving immediately. If anything is pointing to it, update it first.

TLS is automatic

Every *.aureus.cx subdomain is covered by a wildcard TLS certificate managed by Aureus. You get HTTPS out of the box — no cert provisioning, no renewal, no expiry to worry about.

Enabling and disabling the Aureus domain

The Aureus subdomain is enabled by default for every app. If your app is a background worker, an internal API, or anything that doesn't need a public URL, you can turn it off from the app's edit page under Domain & routing.

When the Aureus domain is disabled:

  • The subdomain stops resolving.
  • Your custom domain (if set) is not affected.
  • The app continues to run — only the public URL is removed.

You can re-enable it at any time.

Using a custom domain instead

The Aureus subdomain is intended as a zero-effort default, not a permanent production URL. When you're ready to go live on your own domain, see Setting up a custom domain. Both URLs can be active at the same time.

Limits by tier

Each cluster tier includes a set number of application slots:

  • Cluster S — up to 2 applications.
  • Cluster M — up to 5 applications.
  • Cluster L — unlimited applications.

Each application, regardless of whether the Aureus domain is enabled, counts toward your cluster's slot limit.
